Tequila Showband : About The Band

The Tequila Showband is an eight-piece band formed in October 1998 by John Mitchell. After moving to Cornwall in mid 1998 from working as a professional musician in London, John felt inspired to form a high profile function band in the county after working a summer season with a local soul band. The Tequila Showband would emulate an identical band John played for in Essex, which was made up of west end musicians wanting another musical outlet besides London musicals. So the scene was set for the formation of Cornwall’s premier function band.

The Tequila Showband caters for corporate functions, weddings and party nights, priding itself on being musically superb, professional, punctual, smart and committed. All members are professionally qualified trained musicians, which means if you have that special song you want, we can get it arranged and perform it. We can also back cabaret artists and entertainers with minimal rehearsal. The design of Tequila's varied 90 minute performance time is designed to keep all ages and musical tastes entertained with 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's classic hits. The 90 minute performance time can be split to suite your functions needs, although the most popular performance set divisions are A) 2 x 45 minutes or B) 3 x 30 minutes. Just let the band manager know how you would like the sets divided at the time of booking or nearer the function date.

On stage, the band takes a unique form as only an eight-piece can with Vocals, Keyboards, Bass, Drums, Guitar, Trumpet, Sax and Trombone. The male instrumentalists of the band wear smart white tuxedoes with red bow ties/cummerbunds and the lead vocalist always wears 'something jazzy', just to stand out from the crowd. The Showband is proud to own a full set of big band style music stands sprayed with the bands logo and Tequila colours that adds to the professional presentation.

The Tequila Showband carries its own professional quality PA sound system and a full lighting rig incorporating stationary and intelligent motion and LED lights. There is also the option when booking the band to hire the Tequila Roadshow, which provides an excellent disco for when the band is not playing, creating a non-stop party atmosphere. The Roadshow also saves space due to the fact that it simply plugs into the bands superb sound and lighting system, but don’t worry if a disco is not what you want, we can play light CD music between our sets if you wish.
